GSFC Q2 Net Profit Declines 38 Percent Amid Rising Raw Material Costs

GSFC reported a 38% decline in net profit for the second quarter, largely due to increased raw material costs impacting fertiliser margins. Despite the profit fall, the firm achieved its highest-ever sales for both the second quarter and the first half of the financial year. Revenue for the second quarter grew by 50% year-on-year to reach ₹4,711 crore, while sales for the first half of the year increased by 56% to hit ₹8,293 crore.

The primary factor driving the margin pressure was a 327% surge in sulphur prices during the period. Sulphur is a key input material used in the manufacturing of various fertiliser products. When the cost of raw materials increases, it typically reduces the profit margin, which is the difference between the selling price of a product and the cost to produce it.

The financial results reflect the operational environment faced by the company during the latest quarter. While the revenue growth indicates strong demand for products, the substantial rise in input expenses offset these gains in the bottom line. Investors often track these figures to understand how commodity price fluctuations directly influence the profitability of industrial manufacturing firms.

What it means for investors: The financial data highlights how volatility in global commodity prices can affect corporate earnings. Market participants may observe the stock price in relation to a support level or a resistance level of the current trading range. This report provides a factual overview of the company's recent performance without offering any guidance on future market movements or investment positions.
